Legal Protection of Inventions and Utility Models: National Legislation and Current Issues

Today, a comprehensive seminar on “Legislative Foundations for the Legal Protection of Inventions and Utility Models in the Republic of Kazakhstan” was held at the Faculty of Engineering of our university, located in the city of Kentau, in collaboration with the Research Center for Sustainable Development. The main goal of the event was to promote innovative activities, increase the importance of intellectual property protection, and discuss relevant aspects of national legislation.

During the seminar, participants received detailed information on the mechanisms of legal protection for inventions and utility models, the specifics of the patent system, and current trends in legal regulation.

Speakers:

Orynkul Orazbaeva, patent coordinator, delivered a presentation on “Legal Protection of Inventions and Utility Models,” explaining in detail the requirements of national legislation and key aspects of the patenting procedures.

Shakhzoda Tursunkhodzhaeva, leading researcher at the Research Center for Sustainable Development, presented on “Innovation and Intellectual Property: The Role in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals,” highlighting the connection between innovative thinking and sustainable development principles.

During the seminar, participants received comprehensive guidance on how to obtain a patent, the stages of the process, required documents, and registration procedures. Practical questions related to the protection of intellectual property were also discussed, with specialists providing detailed answers.

As a result of the event, participants emphasized the strategic importance of intellectual property protection in implementing innovative ideas. Such meetings are an important step in strengthening the country’s scientific and technological potential, supporting domestic inventors, and achieving sustainable development goals.
