About Us

The Faculty of Sports and Arts was established in 2001. Since its foundation, the faculty has made a significant contribution to enhancing the university’s reputation in sports and arts, as well as to the training of highly qualified professionals in these fields across the country. The faculty focuses on providing high-quality education and promoting scientific research. Here, students not only gain theoretical knowledge but also master advanced practical sports skills.

Structure and Academic Programs

The faculty includes two departments:
* Department of Physical Culture – Head: PhD, Senior Lecturer Altynbekov Alpamys Ibadullayevich;
* Department of Physical Education and Basic Military Training – Head: PhD, Associate Professor Ermakhanov Baglan.

Currently, the faculty offers the following programs:

Undergraduate (Bachelor’s degree):
* 6B01405 – Physical Education and Sport
* 6B01425 – Physical Education and Sport (IP)
* 6B01485 – Physical Education and Basic Military Training
* 6B01404 – Basic Military Training

Postgraduate (Master’s degree):
* 7M01404 – Physical Education and Sport

The total number of students is 734.

Academic Staff

The teaching staff consists of highly qualified professionals, including:
* 4 Candidates of Pedagogical Sciences, Professors;
* 2 PhD, Associate Professors;
* 1 Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Senior Lecturer;
* 2 PhD, Senior Lecturers;
* 1 Honored Coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor;
* 1 Honored Sports Figure of Kazakhstan, Professor;
* 1 Honored Sports Figure of Kazakhstan, Associate Professor;
* 1 Colonel, 2 Lieutenant Colonels;
as well as Senior Lecturers and Master’s degree instructors.

Material and Technical Base

The Faculty of Sports is fully equipped with modern educational and sports infrastructure that supports the comprehensive professional development of students. The faculty provides excellent conditions for both theoretical and practical training.
Facilities include halls for gymnastics, boxing, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, and taekwondo, as well as a modern sports complex and outdoor training fields. There is also a military training ground, drill area, modern shooting range, and specialized training spaces.
All facilities meet international standards of safety and efficiency. Additionally, there are educational-methodological rooms, gyms, rehabilitation and physiotherapy rooms, allowing students to combine theory with practice and enhance their professional skills.

Student Achievements

In the 2024–2025 academic year, students from programs 6B01405, 6B01425, and 6B01485 achieved outstanding success: over 10 World Championship medals, 15 Asian Championship medals, 70 national titles, and 35 international competition awards.
During the XIII Summer Universiade of Kazakhstan’s universities, our athletes won 31 gold, 19 silver, and 27 bronze medals — a total of 77 — leading the overall team standings among 79 universities.
Students from the 6B01404 – Basic Military Training program took 3rd place in 2022–2023, 2nd place in 2023–2024, and 3rd place in 2024–2025 at the Republican Olympiad in this discipline.

Alumni – The Pride of the Nation

Graduates of the Faculty of Sports are now successfully working throughout Kazakhstan and abroad, representing the country with honor in various international and national sports arenas.
Their achievements clearly demonstrate the quality of education, the effectiveness of the learning process, and the professionalism of the teaching staff.
The Faculty will continue to train competitive specialists who contribute to the development of sports in Kazakhstan.
