Today, as part of the “Law and Order” concept, foreign students at our university were given a detailed explanation of the migration legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On this topic, the Head of the Migration Service Department of the Turkistan Region Police Department, Police Lieutenant Colonel Aida Smagul, provided important information to the foreign students.

The event was attended by the Vice-Rector for Social and Cultural Development, Yedil Tolegenov, and the Vice-Rector for Finance and International Relations, Mustafa Giritlioglu.

Speaking at the meeting, the Vice-Rector for Finance and International Relations, Mustafa Giritlioglu, noted:

“Today we are meeting with the Head of the Migration Service Department of the Turkistan Region Police Department, Police Lieutenant Colonel Aida Smagul. Last year we also held a meeting dedicated to migration issues. Last week, a meeting was organized with representatives of the Police Department. Providing our students with the necessary information is one of our most important tasks. We thank Aida Smagul for coming specifically to provide important information on migration. All of us — both students and teachers — study and work here, so we must comply with the laws of this country,” he said.

The next speaker was the Head of the Migration Service Department of the Turkistan Region Police Department, Police Lieutenant Colonel Aida Smagul. In her address, she stated:

“In July of this year, new laws concerning population migration came into force. Every foreign citizen is now required to reside at the address where they are registered — that is, at the address indicated in their visa or official documents. If a person does not actually reside at this address, appropriate measures will be applied for violation of migration requirements. In case of a change of address, foreign students must notify the dean’s office within three days,” she emphasized.

In addition, speaking at the meeting, the Vice-Rector for Social and Cultural Development, Yedil Tolegenov, said:

“The International Kazakh-Turkish University is an educational institution that brings together young people of the Turkic world under one roof. Representatives of more than 30 nationalities from 17 countries study here together. Therefore, regardless of what laws and regulations are in force in Kazakhstan, we all must obey them. That is why this event is of great importance for you.”

During the meeting, issues related to the rights of foreign students, compliance with migration legislation, requirements for temporary registration, rules of conduct in the Republic of Kazakhstan, and matters related to the visa regime were discussed in detail.

At the end of the event, the students asked their questions and received comprehensive answers.
