Today, in connection with the start of the nationwide Nauryz ten-day celebration and in honor of “Culture and National Traditions” and “National Costume” Day, our university hosted an educational event titled “Day of National Values.” The event was organized jointly by the Faculty of Arts, Media, and Design, with participation from the departments of Journalism, Fine Arts, and Performing Arts.

In 2024, under the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Kemeluly, Nauryz began to be celebrated in a new format. Since then, the holiday has been observed over ten days rather than a single day, with each day dedicated to a theme reflecting the core values of society. The ten-day celebration starts on March 14 with “Korisuu” Day and continues through March 23, “Tazaru” Day.

According to the Nauryz calendar, these festive days highlight and widely promote the historical and cultural heritage and national traditions of our people. This nationwide cultural initiative has become an important expression of national unity.

The event began with a traditional ceremony marking the presentation of Assylzhan Essimkhan’s first hair-cutting ritual. Following this, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Arts, Media, and Design, Lazzat Zhamalkhanqyzy, oversaw the traditional hair-cutting ceremonies for her two sons. First, the ritual was performed for little Seydulla Sadikuly Daryn, followed by Bekzhigit Serdali Doszhan.

Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Media, and Design, Darkhan Nurzhanuly, addressed the audience: “Dear colleagues and beloved students! I congratulate you on the Day dedicated to promoting and honoring culture, ancestral traditions, and national dress, which reflects the unique identity and cultural heritage of our people!”

As part of the event, senior lecturer and designer Meruert Seysembekova presented a fashion show featuring a collection of ethno-style clothing.

The event highlighted the culture of wearing ethno-style clothing and the continuity of traditions, showcasing and celebrating national values.
