Today marks the 111th anniversary of the Canakkale Victory, a significant milestone in the history of Turkey. At our university, a ceremonial event was held in honor of this great victory of the brotherly Republic of Turkey, in line with longstanding tradition.

The event began with a tribute to the heroism, courage, and resilience of the soldiers who lost their lives in the Battle of Canakkale. After a moment of silence, the national anthems of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Turkey were performed.

Opening the event, Rector Zhanar Temirbekova stated: “Dear colleagues, distinguished guests! Our university, located in the heart of Turkistan, regularly hosts important events that promote values shared not only by our two countries but by the entire Turkic world. Today is a historically significant day not only for Turkey, but for all Turkic peoples.

When students and faculty members travel to the Republic of Turkey, we kindly ask the Authorized Board, whenever possible, to take them to Canakkale so they can learn about the heroic legacy written on that land. This place offers a deeper understanding of Turkey’s history,” she noted.

The Rector also emphasized the significance of the university bearing the name of Khoja Akhmed Yassawi and called for further strengthening the brotherly ties between the two countries.

During the event, a poem by the prominent Kazakh poet Magzhan Zhumabayev, dedicated to the heroism of the Turkic people in Anatolia, was recited.

Rector’s Representative Naci Genc also delivered a congratulatory speech: “Today, we are pleased to mark the 111th anniversary of the Canakkale Victory here in Turkistan. The history of this victory runs deep. Even after more than a century, we continue to honor and remember the fallen heroes each year. Our gratitude to them is boundless.”

As part of the program, a theatrical performance titled “The Voice of Peace” was staged, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.

The ceremonial event concluded with a concert program, where Kazakh and Turkish songs further highlighted the value of peace, independence, and unity.
