THE GREAT DAY OF THE NATION – NAURYZ CELEBRATION WAS HELD

The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests from Turkic countries, led by Professor Dr. Kürşad Zorlu, Deputy Chairman of the AK Parti (Justice and Development Party), Head of Relations with Turkic States, and a Member of Parliament from Ankara. Scholars and professional photographers from various regions of Kazakhstan also attended, gaining deeper insight into the rich culture and traditions of the Kazakh people.
The celebration began in the national games area, where attendees experienced traditional Kazakh games. The altybakan swing delighted participants, while intellectual competitions in toguzkumalak and chess took place. Students and guests actively participated in the traditional asyk game, creating a lively atmosphere. In addition, wrestling matches held on the boz kilem (traditional carpet) captured the audience’s attention, showcasing the spirit of national sports.
The event continued with a vibrant presentation of Kazakh traditions. Guests took part in the Tusaukeser ceremony, symbolizing a child’s first steps and offering blessings for a bright future. Other meaningful customs, such as the cradle ceremony (Besikke salu) and the wedding rite (Betashar), were staged, effectively conveying the cultural heritage and values passed down from ancestors.
In addition, exhibitions of national art and handicrafts were organized, featuring works by artists and craftsmen. Visitors enjoyed impressive performances reflecting the rich spiritual heritage of Turkic peoples, further appreciating the depth of national identity.
The celebration continued with a festive concert prepared by the university’s performers, opening with the blessing of Kydyr Ata. The “Atameken” Folk Instrument Ensemble performed traditional kui compositions, including “Konilashar” by Turgesh, “Estai” by Kurmangazy, “Nauryz” by Baden Aisynov, as well as songs such as “Nauryz Duman.”
Dancers of the “Bisultan” ensemble captivated the audience with performances such as “Syrly Kyzdar” and “Kara Zhorga.” Talented university students performed a terme by Estai, along with songs such as “Saigulik” and “Durdaraz,” enhancing the festive atmosphere. The evening concluded with the song “Nauryz,” bringing everyone together in shared joy and celebration.
During the event, university staff and guests gathered in traditional yurts set up at the venue, enjoying a generously prepared dastarkhan. The main dish, Nauryz kozhe, was served alongside various dishes representing different cultures. Inside the yurts, melodious songs and the sounds of traditional instruments elevated the national spirit and left a lasting impression on all attendees.
On this great celebration of the Turkic world, representatives of various nations and ethnic groups came together under one roof, sharing songs, dances, and joy before parting in high spirits.
