OUR UNIVERSITY IS HOSTING AN INTERNATIONAL EXPERT SEMINAR
Our University is hosting a scientific seminar entitled “Molecular Oncology and Cancer Genetics: Biomarkers and Research Logic,” led by international expert and Associate Professor Sevgi Gezici.
The seminar aims to advance the University’s molecular genetic and genomic research in line with the expert’s field of specialization, evaluate the practical capabilities of the laboratory infrastructure, define the preparatory steps for the implementation of Illumina sequencing technology, and establish an internal workflow for the preliminary interpretation of NGS/WES data.
The event brings together faculty members, young scientists, doctoral candidates, and researchers.
During the seminar, participants discuss current advances in molecular oncology, the role of biomarkers in cancer genetics, the formulation of scientifically sound research questions, and approaches to transforming molecular research findings into scientific projects.
In addition, participants are exchanging experience on laboratory preparation for next-generation sequencing (NGS/WES) and addressing current issues in the field of molecular diagnostics.
Over the coming days, the seminar program will cover a wide range of topics, including apoptosis and cellular signaling mechanisms, evaluation of the biological effects of natural compounds, application of qPCR technology, preliminary analysis of NGS/WES data, proteomics, pharmaceutical biotechnology, and applied bioinformatics.
Participants will also gain practical insights into organizing molecular research and exchange experience in analyzing research results and applying them in scientific studies.
The seminar is expected to strengthen the University’s research capacity, promote international academic cooperation, and support the development of new initiatives in molecular diagnostics and genomic research.
The seminar will continue through June 27.
