SENATE MEETING NO. 1 OF THE 2026–2027 ACADEMIC YEAR WAS HELD

The first Senate meeting of the 2026–2027 academic year was held at our University. The meeting was attended by Senate members and academic staff.

At the beginning of the meeting, Rector Zhanar Temirbekova and Vice-Rector for Finance and International Relations Mustafa Giritlioglu congratulated Maksat Alipkhan, Candidate of Philological Sciences and Associate Professor, on his 63rd birthday; Gulnaziya Tauekelova, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Performing Arts of the Faculty of Arts, Media and Design and Cultural Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on her 50th birthday; and Dana Alimova, Librarian at the Library Acquisition and Scientific Processing Department, on her 50th anniversary.

Next, Baimurat Abdukarimov, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Physical Education and Basic Military Training, was presented with the “Honorary Sports Worker” badge, while Zhakypbek Kassymbekov, Professor at the Department of Physical Culture, received the “Veteran of Labour” medal.

In addition, Almas Kuralbayev, Lecturer at the Department of Management and Business, was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor (Docent) in the scientific field of Economics and Business. Professor Tursyn Khazretali was appointed a full member of the Kazakhstan Academy of Pedagogical Sciences.

University faculty members Shora Mussaliuly, Kopzhasar Zhetibayev and Gulsara Tokkulova were awarded special Letters of Appreciation from the Mayor of Turkistan, Azimbek Pazylbekuly, on the occasion of May 1 – the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan.

The meeting proceeded with consideration of the key items on the agenda. First, Senate Secretary Aiman Abibullakyzy reported on amendments to the composition of the Senate and the Management Board for the 2026–2027 academic year and the approval of the Senate’s work plan for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Under miscellaneous matters, the Senate members also decided to submit documents of the University’s academic staff to the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the awarding of academic titles.

The Senate meeting also discussed important issues concerning the submission of works prepared by the University’s academic staff to the Republican Educational and Methodological Council for approval, the submission of an open online course, and amendments to University regulations developed by the Academic Department.

In addition, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Elmira Idrissova presented the academic calendar for the 2026–2027 academic year for students who were unable to complete their studies in the 2025–2026 academic year and proposed it for approval.

Gulsara Tokkulova, Head of the Center for Inclusive Education Support, also presented the Center’s activities and shared its work plan for the new academic year.

At the end of the Senate meeting, Rector Zhanar Temirbekova presented Letters of Appreciation to Aliya Kuralbayeva (Faculty of Education and Humanities), Yermek Seidakhmetov (Faculty of Sports), and Uzun Yilmaz (Faculty of Economics and Management), whose terms as deans had ended, in recognition of their dedicated service and consistent work.
