This week, the 20th Summer Asian Games will begin in Aichi Prefecture and the city of Nagoya, Japan. Four students and two graduates of our university will participate in the continent’s largest sporting event after the Olympic Games.
At this prestigious competition, our university students Nilufar Raimova in women’s wrestling, Symbat Kydyrali in 3×3 basketball, and Klim Ryukhov and Vladislav Mastikhin in volleyball will represent Kazakhstan.
Nilufar Raimova is one of Kazakhstan’s most promising female wrestlers. In 2021, she won the World Junior Championships, bringing Kazakhstan its first gold medal at the tournament in 13 years. Since then, she has consistently achieved outstanding results at national championships.
Volleyball players Klim Ryukhov and Vladislav Mastikhin will compete as members of the Kazakhstan national team. Both athletes have also achieved impressive results in beach volleyball. In 2025, they triumphed at the U21 Asian Championships, winning Kazakhstan’s first-ever gold medal in this age category.
Symbat Kydyrali will compete at the Asian Games in 3×3 basketball, a fast-paced and highly competitive form of the sport.
Graduates of our university will also participate in the continental tournament. Shughila Omirbek in women’s wrestling and Aidar Arapov in judo will compete for medals as members of the national team.
Shughila Omirbek is a talented athlete who has made history in Kazakhstan’s women’s wrestling. In 2025, she won a gold medal at the U23 World Championships held in Novi Sad, Serbia. In doing so, she became the first Kazakhstani female wrestler to win a world championship title in this age category.
University graduate Aidar Arapov is an experienced judoka who has proudly represented Kazakhstan at international competitions. This year, he won bronze medals at the Grand Slam tournament in Astana and the Asian Championships held in Ordos, China.
